- to cough (to produce a sudden noisy burst of air from one's mouth)
- bieži, skaļi, ilgi klepot ― to cough often, loud, long
- viņš ir saaukstējies un klepo ― he has a cold and is coughing
- viņš aizrijās, sāka klepot ― he choked (and) started coughing
- tad piepeši Imants atkal sāka klepot ― then suddenly Imants again started coughing
