Etymology
From Old Norse kvikr, Proto-Germanic *kwikwaz, whence also English quick. Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *gʷih₃wós (“alive”). Landt 1800[1] mentions it as typical Faroese in contrast to Danish hurtig.
