From Proto-Finnic *küllä. Cognates include Estonian küll, Ingrian kyllääst (“enough, sufficiently”), Karelian kyllä, Livonian ki’l, Veps külläine (“content, fat”) and Votic küll. Also related to Northern Sami galˈle. The adverb developed from the noun.
