Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *laukā, from Proto-Indo-European *lówkos (“clearing”), close to Latin lūcus (“sacred grove”) and Germanic *lauhaz (“clearing, open space”). Alternatively from Proto-Germanic *lakaz (“brook, river, swamp”) (cf. Old High German lahha, Old English lacu).[1]
