Etymology
- From the second part of the compound word napnyugat. [1]
- From the same, now archaic Hungarian verb nyug (“to keep quiet”), the same word from which nyugszik and nyugodt derive from. This in turn derives from Proto-Finno-Ugric *ńuŋV (“to rest”).[2]
