Etymology
Borrowed from Japanese 折鶴 (おりづる, orizuru, “origami paper crane”), from 折り (おり, ori, “to fold”) + 鶴 (つる, tsuru, “crane (bird)”). The tsuru changes to zuru as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
