Etymology

Cognate with Romanian puță.

Various etymologies have been proposed. Either diminutive of pulã (penis, dick), or from Vulgar Latin root *pūtium (compare praeputium), from Old Latin pūtos (penis), or from root *pubucea, from Latin pubes, or from Vulgar Latin putta, feminine of puttus, superlative of putus.
