pyll
Albanian
Etymology
Possibly a prefixed formation of an earlier *hyll, from Proto-Albanian *skūla, close to Ancient Greek (Attic) ὕλη (húlē, “forest, grove”) and Thracian sula (“grove”) (cf. shul). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) Alternatively from an earlier *pëýll, *pëdyll, from Latin palūs. Compare Romanian pădure with the same sense development.[1]
