From Turkish rakı, from Arabic عَرَقِيّ (ʿaraqiyy, of liquor), from عَرَق (ʿaraq, arrack, arak), literally, “condensate,” which refers to an ouzo-like liqueur made of raisins. Compare Albanian raki.
