Etymology

So called because they are "sandwiched" between the preceding and succeeding generations. Sandwich Generation refers to the people that care for their kids and an elderly parent at the same time. The group of people usually feels overwhelmed, family caregivers need respite care in order to take some time off to take care their selves. Many Baby Boomers are part of the sandwich generation today!
