Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *taksjā, from Proto-Indo-European *tetḱ- ‘to hew’ (compare Lithuanian tašaũ (to hew), Latin texō (to weave), Sanskrit तक्षति (takșati, to carpenter, cut)).[1] Cognate with tollë.
