From Proto-Albanian *tāslā, from *tēkslā, from Proto-Indo-European *tetḱ- ‘to hew’ (compare Latin tēlum, German Dechsel ‘adze’, Russian тесла (teslá) ‘adze’).[1]. Cognate with teshë.
