Of Mongolic origin. From Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (yeke, “large”), from Middle Mongolian ᠶᠡᠬᠡ (yeke)[1], from Proto-Mongolic *yeke whence also Modern Mongolian их (ih, “great”).
