Watch Anna Calvo Rosenstone, cellist and admissions assistant at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music share how a favorite part of her job is helping fellow musicians advance their careers through formal education. She first discovered her love of the cello when her parents made her a cello using cardboard and string. She loved playing her "homemade" instrument so much that they bought her a real cello and she has never looked back. Anna believes that everyone should learn to play an instrument, whether they want to be a professional musician or not. Learning to play teaches you about discipline and gets you to use both the left and right side of your brain (analytical and creative regions), which is high demand for those wanting to work in high tech fields.
