Karyn Richman, MPA

Karyn Richman, MPA, currently serves as the Acting Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Washington, D.C. Office. Ms. Richman joined the CDC as the Deputy Director of the Washington Office in May 2014.

Ms. Richman began working for the Department of Health and Human Services in January 2011, where she served as the Branch Chief for the Science and Regulatory Affairs Branch within the Office of Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources. Prior to joining HHS, she served as Professional Staff for the Committee on Appropriations in the House of Representatives for nearly four years, most recently as staff for the Subcommittee on Homeland Security.

Ms. Richman began her career in Washington with a six-year tenure at the White House Office of Management and Budget, focusing on homeland security, emergency and public health preparedness, and biodefense issues. Ms. Richman holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University.
