Jasmine Chaitram is the Associate Director for Laboratory Preparedness and Acting Branch Chief for Laboratory Research and Evaluation Branch in the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS). With over 13 years of experience, Ms. Chaitram has served in various roles including Deputy Branch Chief for the Laboratory Preparedness and Response Branch in the Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections (DPEI) and Program Manager for the Laboratory Responses Network for Biological Threats (LRN-B).

In 1998, Ms. Chaitram began her CDC career by administering an international quality assurance program for 300 laboratories in 35 countries to detect emerging pathogens with resistance to antibiotics. Her work with biological threat organisms in a Biosafety Laboratory (BSL-3) led to a position with the DPEI with the LRN-B. In this role, she developed a national proficiency testing program for LRN Reference laboratories, a model for estimating laboratory surge capacity and a system for standardized electronic data exchange.

Ms. Chaitram received her Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health from Emory University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
