A growing number of healthcare-associated infections are caused by bacteria that are resistant to multiple antibiotics. These include: MRSA (8.5%); Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (3%); extended-spectrum cephalosporin-resistant K. pneumonia (and K. oxytoca) (2%); E. coli (2%) and Enterobacter spp. (2%); Carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa (2%); Carbapenem-resistant K. pneumonia (and K. oxytoca) (less than 1%); E. coli (less than 1%); Enterobacter spp. (~1%).
