Public Health Genomics Policies and Regulations

Copyright Policy

Most of the information on our site is in the public domain and can be used without charge or restriction. There are a few exceptions; at times the Office of Public Health Genomics (OPHG) Web site may contain images, documents or links to documents, such as full-text journal articles, that may be copyright protected. Permission to reproduce copyrighted images or documents may be required. People are free to link to the OPHG site, which would ensure up-to-date, accurate information.

Linking Policy

Although organizations are welcome to link to the OPHG Web site, CDC policy limits outside links to other Federal government agencies, selected CDC grantees, OPHG partners, and selected genomics-related organizations. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. For example, temporary links may be established with an organization that is conducting a meeting for which the OPHG is providing sponsorship. In addition, links to the developers of tools that assist visitors in using Web site technology are provided. Currently, the CDC Web site links to free versions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, RealPlayer, various Microsoft readers, WinZip, Windows Media Player. OPHG provides additional links to free players and browsers. Non-government sites will have a free download logo, or a warning icon included with the reference.

Schedule for Posting Content

We post information as available, unless otherwise required by law. Some areas of the OPHG Web site are updated daily while others are updated on a weekly, monthly, or annual schedule. Every page has a “Last updated” date, and possibly an “archived” date. You may view a full listing of current pages on our site map.

Portable Document Format (PDF) files preserve all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of a printed document once it is placed on a Web site. Several documents on the OPHG Web site are provided in PDF. PDF files require the free Adobe Reader software for viewing.
