October 9, 2014- New CDC analysis finds gaps in care and treatment among Latinos diagnosed with HIV

In advance of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (observed on Wednesday, October 15), CDC released a new analysis showing that among Latinos who have been diagnosed with HIV, just over half (54 percent) were retained in care. Fewer than half (44 percent) of those diagnosed have been prescribed antiretroviral therapy, and just 37 percent have achieved viral suppression (i.e., the virus is under control at a level that helps them stay healthy and reduces the risk of transmission).
