Preliminary Health Insurance Estimates
The Early Release Program of the NHIS provides analytic reports and preliminary microdata files on an expedited schedule. The online report Health Insurance Coverage: Early Release of Estimates From the National Health Interview Survey is published quarterly and provides detailed estimates of health insurance coverage by selected demographic characteristics. The first report for each data collection year is released in September and is based on NHIS data from the previous January through March. Each of the three subsequent quarterly reports is based respectively on an additional three months of data. In addition, other online Early Release health insurance tabulations may be released throughout the years.
