Laboratory Evaluations and Performance Reports for the Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) and Environmental Lead Proficiency Analytical Testing (ELPAT) Programs
November 1994
DHHS (NIOSH) Publication Number 95-104
Statistical protocols for the Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) and Environmental Lead Proficiency Analytical Testing (ELPAT) programs were provided. The PAT program was a collaborative effort of American Industrial Hygiene Association and NIOSH to provide quality control reference samples to over 1,500 occupational health and environmental laboratories in over 15 countries. PAT was intended to assist laboratories in improving analytical performance for hazardous substances in air. The ELPAT program was similar, with the focus on the analysis of lead (7439921) in paint, soil and dust matrices. The procedures used to evaluate the data from the participating laboratories were discussed. A general description of the programs was provided, along with an example of the laboratory data report and examples and explanations of the laboratory performance reports provided to participants.
