ERGONOMIC INTERVENTIONS IN SHIPYARDS
Hazard: Cable spools can weigh several hundred pounds. Often spools are rolled into position by manual labor causing stress to workers' back and arms.
Solution: By placing a sturdy metal pipe through the center of the cable spool, a forklift can be used to move the spool to its desired location (see photo). This would eliminate most of the manual handling and associated stresses.
