Cardiovascular Disease and Occupational Factors
Total Worker Health® and CVD
The prevention of CVD can be addressed in the workplace with a Total Worker Health® (TWH®) approach to integrating occupational safety and health protection with health promotion to prevent worker injury and illness and to advance health and well-being. A growing body of science supports TWH as an effective strategy. TWH® is defined as policies, programs, and practices that integrate protection from work-related safety and health hazards with promotion of injury and illness prevention efforts to advance worker well-being. See the NIOSH Topic Page on Total Worker Health for more information.
