National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)
NAME is the national professional organization of physician medical examiners, medical death investigators, and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigation of deaths of public interest in the United States. NAME has endorsed CDC’s Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation training academies and curriculum.

National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC)
NCCC provides national leadership and contributes to the body of knowledge on cultural and linguistic competency within systems and organizations.

National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention (National CFRP)
National CFRP is a resource and data center for state and local Child Death Review programs, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. It promotes, supports, and enhances child death review methods and activities at the state, community, and national levels.

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)
NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, commonwealths, and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. The Michigan Public Health Institute’s National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention is a data and resource center that provides expertise across a broad spectrum of fetal, infant and child health and injuries, including infant mortality, SUID and SIDS, unintentional injuries, and violence.

The National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA)
Chartered in 1940, NSA is a professional association dedicated to serving the Office of Sheriff and its affiliates through education, training, and information resources. NSA endorsed CDC’s Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation training academies and curriculum.

Safe to Sleep Public Education Campaign
The Safe to Sleep campaign aims to educate parents, caregivers, and health care providers about ways to reduce the risk for SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death. Safe to Sleep is an expansion of the original Back to Sleep campaign, which started in 1994 and was named for its recommendation to place healthy babies on their backs to sleep. The expanded Safe to Sleep campaign builds on the success and reach of Back to Sleep. In addition to strategies for reducing the risk of SIDS, Safe to Sleep also describes actions that parents and caregivers can take to reduce the risk of other sleep-related causes of infant death, such as suffocation.
