Smoking Restrictions in U.S. Large-Hub Airports—United States, 2002 and 2010

This CDC report summarizes the current status of smoke-free policies among large-hub U.S. airports and highlights policy changes since 2002. Findings indicate that while 76% of large-hub airports are now smoke-free indoors, seven airports (including three of the five busiest U.S. airports) still allow smoking in certain indoor locations. Smoke-free policies at the state, local, or airport authority levels are needed for all airports in order to protect the health of air travelers and employees at airports.
