SpecialtyCardiology

Broadbent sign refers to two medical signs; the observation of pulsations in the 2nd or 3rd intercostal space in a person with aneurysm of the anterior aortic arch, and the indrawing of the left side and back near the 11th and 12th ribs with every heartbeat, indicating pericarditis due to pericardial adhesions to the diaphragm.[1]

The sign is named for Sir William Broadbent and his son Walter Broadbent.[1]
