2012 Missouri Secretary of State election

The Missouri Secretary of State election, 2012 was held on November 6, 2012, alongside the presidential and gubernatorial elections. Democratic State Representative Jason Kander defeated Republican Speaker Pro Tem Shane Schoeller by 39,085 votes.

Incumbent Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan won the 2008 Missouri secretary of state election with 61.8% of the vote against Republican candidate Mitchell Hubbard. She announced on September 30, 2011 that she will not run for reelection, creating an open seat in 2012.[1]
