2023–24 Indian Super League

The 2023–24 Indian Super League is the 10th season of the Indian Super League (ISL) and the 28th season of the top-tier in Indian football. Fixtures until December 2023 were announced on 7 September 2023.[1] This season will have a mid-season break for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.[2]

Mumbai City are the defending premiers, and Mohun Bagan SG (formerly ATK Mohun Bagan FC) are the defending Champions.[3][4]

Changes from last season

It will be the first season where the promoted I-League winner competes, thereby increasing the number of participating clubs to 12. Punjab FC became the first ever club to get promoted to the Indian Super League by winning the 2022–23 I-League.[5]

As per the new AFC Club Competitions Ranking structure,[6] ISL clubs will not be eligible for a slot in the AFC Champions League; instead, the league premiers will qualify for the AFC Cup group stage, rebranded as AFC Champions League 2.[7]

In this season defending premiers wears the Champions Badge instead of the defending champions.[8]

Twelve teams will compete in the league: eleven teams from the previous season and one team promoted from the 2022–23 I-League.

The AIFF allows clubs to register a maximum of six foreign players, including one AFC quota player. A maximum of four can be fielded in a match at a time.[41] The summer transfer window for clubs in the 2023-24 Indian Super League opened on June 9, 2023, and concluded on August 31, 2023.[42]
