Borran-e Olya

Borran-e Olya (Persian: بران عليا, also Romanized as Borrān-e ‘Olyā; also known as Barān and Borrān-e Bālā)[3] is a village in Borran Rural District of Borran District of Aslan Duz County, Ardabil province, Iran. It is the capital of the district. The village was formerly in Qeshlaq-e Gharbi Rural District of Aslan Duz District, Parsabad County, before Aslan Duz became a county.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 1,180 in 236 households, when it was in Parsabad County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 1,102 people in 275 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,508 people in 451 households; it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]

In 2017, Aslan Duz District was separated from Parsabad County, elevated to the status of a county with the city of Aslan Duz as its capital, and divided into two districts (Central and Borran Districts) of two rural districts each.[4]
