Central District (Zarqan County)

The Central District of Zarqan County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان زرقان) is in Fars province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Zarqan.[3]

At the National Census in 2006, the region's population (as a part of the former Zarqan District of Shiraz County) was 40,075 in 10,129 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 45,897 people in 12,457 households.[5] At the latest census in 2016, there were 49,892 inhabitants in 14,799 households.[2]

In July 2018, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Zarqan County and divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the new county's only city, Zarqan, as its capital.[3]
