Zeh-e Kalut

Zeh-e Kalut (Persian: زه کلوت, also Romanized as Zeh-e Kalūt)[3] is a city in the Central District of Jazmurian County, Kerman province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the county and of the district.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,556 in 534 households, when it was a village in the former Jazmurian District of Rudbar-e Jonubi County).[5] The following census in 2011 counted 4,091 people in 878 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 6,835 people in 1,793 households,[2] by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city.[7]

In 2023, the district was separated from the county, elevated to the status of Jazmurian County, and divided into two districts with two rural districts each and the city of Zeh-e Kalut as the new county's capital.[4]

History

In January 1391, with the proposal of the Ministry of Interior, the village of Zahklot, the center of Jazmurian district, after merging with the villages of Hasanabad-e Zeh Kalut, Hoseynabad-e Zeh Kalut, Cheraghabad-e Zeh Kalut, and Amirabad from the functions of the same department, became a city and was known as the city of Zahklot.[8][9]
