Composition
Sia co-wrote "Gimme Love" with Jesse Shatkin, who also produced the track. George Griffiths of the Official Charts Company described "Gimme Love" as "an emotional and engaging semi-ballad, where the song's bright, trippy melody is met with Sia's borderline operatic, airy vocals and a trap-adjacent beat."[1] Consequence called the song a pop anthem,[4] and NME and Rolling Stone described "Gimme Love" as "anthemic".[5][6] Billboard's Gil Kaufman called the song "bouncy".[7]
Promotion
The release of "Gimme Love" was accompanied by a "colorful" lyric video.[8] Billboard said the video "is a series of snaps of the singer in various locations with color blocks covering her features".[7] The music video for "Gimme Love", directed by Sia herself,[9] was released on 18 October.[10] The video begins with Sia dancing alone, before her friends join her, dancing and frolicking to the song.[11]
Reception
American Songwriter's Jon Mendelsohn called the song "a heartfelt anthem that is sure to satisfy most Sia fans".[8] Uproxx said "Gimme Love" is "an uninhibited pop single packed with the sonic dynamism characteristic of her multi-platinum-certified discography".[12]
