Gizilaghaj National Park

Gizilaghaj National Park is a National Park located in Azerbaijan. It was established on September 26, 2018, by order of Ilham Aliyev.[1]

Territory

The park covers 99,060 hectares. This area includes the lands belonging to the Small Gizilaghaj State Nature Reserve (10,390.89 hectares), the territory separated from the state reserve fund lands located in Neftchala (309.11 hectares) and the base of the Gizilaghaj State Nature Reserve (88 thousand 360 hectares).[2]

Plants

Nelumbo caspica, Nymphaea alba, Sagittaria trifolia, Phragmites australis, Bolboschoenus maritimus, Typha angustifolia, Artemisia fragrans, Salsola nudulosa, Halostachys caspica, Kalidium caspicum etc. plants can be found. In the national park, 4 types of rare and 3 types of Caucasian endemic plants (found only in the Caucasus region) - hybrid poplar, plantain, Grossheim's flower and one type of Azerbaijan endemic - horse radish were registered.

Animals

Wetland birds, wild boar, wolves, vipers, etc. animals can be found.
