The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.[4] The settlement includes the site of the former hamlet of Schweinberg[2] at the foot of Jasnica Hill (German: Schweinberg),[5] now occupied by the formerly abandoned[6] but since renovated Jasnica Recreation and Tourism Center.
