Hoveyzeh

Hoveyzeh (Persian: هویزه; Arabic: الهويزة also romanized as Huwaiza,[3] Havizeh, Hawiza, Hawīzeh, Hovayze, and Hovayzeh; also known as Hūzgān or Khūzgān[4]) is a city in the Central District of Hoveyzeh County, Khuzestan province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the county and of the district.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 14,422 in 2,749 households, when it was in the former Hoveyzeh District of Dasht-e Azadegan County.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 16,154 people in 3,779 households,[7] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Hoveyzeh County.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 19,481 people in 4,904 households.[2]
