Jafarabad County

Jafarabad County (Persian: شهرستان جعفرآباد) is in Qom province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Jafariyeh.

At the 2006 census, the region's population (as Qahan Rural District and the former Jafarabad District of Qom County) was 19,594 in 4,859 households.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 20,064 people in 5,557 households.[4] At the 2016 census, there were 21,963 in 6,429 households.[2]

After the census, the rural district and district were separated from the county and divided into the Central and Qahan Districts, the former including the newly formed Baqerabad Rural District, and the latter containing the new Kohandan Rural District. The city of Jafariyeh was proclaimed capital of Jafarabad County.[5]
