Kohurestan

Kohurestan (Persian: كهورستان, also Romanized as Kohūrestān, Kahoorestān, and Kahūrestān; also known as Khūrīstān, Gūrestān, and Kūristān)[3] is a village in Kohurestan Rural District of Kohurestan District, Khamir County, Hormozgan province, Iran, and serves as capital of the district.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,525 in 544 households, when it was in the Central District.[5] The following census in 3,261 counted 833 people in 258 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,418 people in 1,036 households. It was the largest village in its rural district.[2]

After the 2016 census, the rural district was separated from the district in the establishment of Kohurestan District, which included the newly formed Latidan Rural District. In addition, Keshar Rural District was established in the Central District.[4]
