List of NCAA Division I men's soccer programs
This is a list of men's college soccer programs in the United States, that play in NCAA Division I. As of the most recently completed 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season, 208 schools in the United States sponsored Division I varsity men's soccer; 203 of these schools are full Division I members, four (Bellarmine, Merrimack, UC San Diego, and Utah Tech [formerly Dixie State]) were in transition from Division II to Division I, and one (St. Thomas) is transitioning from Division III.
This list reflects each team's conference affiliation as of the current 2023 season.[1]
Current Division I schools

- While the entire campus has a Binghamton mailing address, the core of the campus, including its athletic facilities, is in the adjacent town of Vestal.
- Nearly all of the SMU campus, including the soccer stadium, lies within University Park, a separate city contained within the city limits of Dallas. However, all locations within University Park have a Dallas mailing address.
- Bellarmine began a transition from Division II to Division I in the 2020–21 school year, and is scheduled to become a full D-I member in the 2024–25 school year.[2]
- While the campus has a Fort Myers mailing address, it lies in unincorporated Lee County.
- Lindenwood, Queens, Southern Indiana, and Stonehill all began transitions from Division II to Division I in the 2022–23 school year, and are scheduled to become full D-I members in the 2026–27 school year.
- While the campus has a Fairfax mailing address, it lies in unincorporated Fairfax County, which encloses but does not include the city of Fairfax.
- The St. Bonaventure campus is its own census-designated place and postal entity within the town of Allegany.
- The campus has a Philadelphia mailing address, but straddles the boundary between Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township. The soccer stadium is in Philadelphia.
- UVA has a Charlottesville mailing address, but its soccer stadium is in Albemarle County, which encloses but does not include the city of Charlottesville.
- The Villanova campus is its own census-designated place and postal entity, straddling the boundary between Lower Merion Township and Radnor Township.
- The U.S. Postal Service considers the entire Penn State campus to have a University Park mailing address. The campus straddles the boundary between State College and College Township; the university administration is in the former and the soccer stadium is in the latter.
- The main Rutgers campus is divided between New Brunswick and Piscataway. The university administration is in New Brunswick, but the athletic administration and soccer stadium are in Piscataway.
- UC San Diego began a transition from Division II to Division I in the 2020–21 school year, and is scheduled to become a full D-I member in the 2024–25 school year.[3]
- The campus has a Santa Barbara mailing address, but is located in the census-designated place of Isla Vista.
- The Indiana University and Purdue University systems have announced that IUPUI will be dissolved after the 2023–24 school year and replaced by separate IU- and Purdue-affiliated institutions, with the athletic program transferring to the new IU Indianapolis. The athletic brand of the new campus has not been announced; plausible brand names include IU Indianapolis and IUI.[4]
- The campus has a Rochester mailing address, but is physically split between the communities of Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills.
- While Harvard's administrative offices and undergraduate campus are in Cambridge, the athletic administration and almost all athletic facilities, including the soccer stadium, are within the Boston city limits and have a Boston mailing address.
- The Niagara campus is its own census-designated place and postal entity within the town of Lewiston.
- Le Moyne began a transition from Division II to Division I in the 2023–24 school year, and is scheduled to become a full D-I member in the 2027–28 school year.
- The Le Moyne campus has a Syracuse mailing address, but physically lies in the adjacent town of DeWitt.
- LIU has primary campuses in both Brooklyn and Brookville, New York; the men's soccer program operates from Brookville.
- The USI campus has an Evansville mailing address, but is completely outside the Evansville city limits in Perry Township, an unincorporated subdivision of Vanderburgh County.
- St. Thomas began a transition from Division III to Division I in the 2021–22 school year. UST becomes a full D-I member in the 2026–27 school year.[5]
- The UCF campus has an Orlando mailing address, but is located in unincorporated Orange County.
- Virtually all of the Academy grounds, including the cadet area and all athletic facilities, is outside the city limits of Colorado Springs. The U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Postal Service consider the Academy to be its own entity, respectively designating it as "Air Force Academy" and "USAF Academy".
- The UNLV campus lies outside the Las Vegas city limits in the unincorporated area of Paradise. The U.S. Postal Service considers all unincorporated areas in the Las Vegas Valley to have a Las Vegas address.
- Utah Tech, then known as Dixie State, began a transition from Division II to Division I in the 2020–21 school year, and is scheduled to become a full D-I member in 2024–25.[6]
- While UTRGV has multiple campuses in its service area of the Rio Grande Valley, its athletic department is based at the Edinburg campus, inherited from UTRGV's athletic predecessor of UT Pan American.
