The son of legendary All Black, Michael Jones, his playing position is also flanker. He was educated at St Peter's College, Auckland,[2]
Niko played for Auckland in the National Provincial Championship in 2020 and 2020. In 2022 he took up a contract to play for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby (MLR) in the U.S.[3]
