Rangia College is an institution of general higher education established on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River. It is located in Rangiya town of kamrup rural district of Assam.[1]

History
It was established on 5 August 1963. The college has rendered pioneering services to the community by catering to the needs of the vast and extensive area inhabited predominantly by socially and economically backward segments of the population. Rangia College has been serving the socio-educational needs of the entire North Kamrup area which is primarily a rural base.

Women's Studies Research Cell
The Women's Studies Research Cell at Rangia College was established in 2004 under the guidance of the Women's Studies Research Cell at Gauhati University.[3] The primary objective of this initiative was to generate awareness about women's issues among the villagers residing in the outskirts of Rangia. Initially led by two founder convenors, Mrs. Sufia Begum from the Department of Political Science and Mrs. Madhurima Das from the Department of Philosophy, the cell aimed to adopt a supportive approach towards the local community, with a particular focus on women and children.
Over the years, the Women's Studies Research Cell has actively organized various workshops, health camps, talks, and lectures to raise awareness about different socio-economic challenges and potential solutions to address them. The cell comprises both faculty members and students from Rangia College, who actively participate in its endeavours. Additionally, the Cell publishes a biannual ISBN Journal since 2010, titled Pratibhan, which serves as a platform for scholarly contributions in the field of women's studies.
NCC
National Cadet Corps the largest uniformed youth organization in India. It also considered the second line of Indian defense. Developing character of Indian youth, inculcating a sense of comradeship, discipline and a secular outlook in them, NCC has been instrumental in building selfless leaders for the country. The NCC unit of Rangia College was introduced in 1965. The then Principal, Sri Birendra Nath Bordoloi took the initiative and appointed Mr. Golok Ch. Bhuyan, department of History as founder NCC officer.
NSS
The National Service Scheme was established by Government of India on 1969. The main objective of establishing NSS was personality development of a student through community service, to understand the students about community work and work with or among people, to develop a sense of social responsibilities. To acquire leadership qualities, democratic attitude etc. The NSS at Rangia College was opened with a motto “Not Me but You” along with few colleges under Gauhati University in 1969. It is worth mention able that in the year of introduction Mr. Hirendra Nath Sarma, Professor Political Science Department held on the post of first programme officer of the unit. The unit has passed four long decade implementing different activities including routine work.
Health Care Unit
The Health care Unit of Rangia College attempts to create health awareness among the college fraternity as well as villagers around the college. Moreover, the unit tries to provide First -Aids- Training , vaccination and monitoring in association with the Rangia Civil Hospital, Rangia.
Library
Rangia College library is a premier library of higher education in Assam, playing a vital role in conferring higher education to the user of North Kamrup in especially for more than 57 year since its establishment in 1963.The central library of the college has been functioning as an integral part of the college from time of its inception. At this time of its inception the primary needs of the library were fulfilled with the help of donation and contribution of some well wishers and thereafter gradually it is able to become a modern computerized college library. At present Rangia College library also provides access to e-resources to the teachers and students of the college through UGC- INFLIBNET, N-List Programme and NDLI services (National Digital Library of India).
