Bigg Boss 12, also known as Bigg Boss: Vichitra Jodis is the twelfth season of the Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss which is based on the Dutch series Big Brother, and premiered on 16 September 2018 on Colors.[1][2] The launch episode was titled "Bigg Night". Salman Khan hosted the season for the ninth time.[3] The grand finale of the show took place on 30 December 2018 and Dipika Kakar was announced as the winner whereas Sreesanth became the runner up .[4]

Production

Background

Colors TV invited the general public to send their video clips[5] through a streaming application called Voot on 15 April in order to audition for the show. It was later revealed by the show makers that this season of the show would feature contestants in pairs (any sort of pairs; friends, co-workers, spouses, siblings, etc.), therefore declaring the theme "Vichitra Jodis", which translates to "Strange Pairs".[6][1][5]

The Bigg Boss "eye" is split, with red on one side and blue on the other; red representing fire and blue representing water.

House

House pictures were officially released on 16 September 2018; the House followed the theme of a "Beach House".[7]

Bigg Boss: Outhouse

Four housemates entered the Bigg Boss Outhouse a day before the start of the show. The public had power to vote two housemate into the main house. Exclusive videos from the out-house were streaming on Voot from 15 September 2018. Surbhi Rana, Kriti Verma, Roshmi Banik and Mital Joshi were called into the house with a task called "Taala Khol", where one of the pairs were to be eliminated on the very first day of the show.[8]

  • Captaincy Task(Raja Ki Duvida):As part of the task, the nominated pair Kriti Verma-Roshmi Banik and the singles chosen Dipika Kakar will play it. In the task, Anup Jalota would play the role of a Rangeela Rajkumar and the girls will have to act as his ‘Ranis’. The Ranis have to earn a rose from the Rajkumar by entertaining him. Whoever would get the maximum roses will be declared as the captain of the house. All hoot and cheer for Anup. Jasleen hugs him and laughs. Romil says Jaleen will be Anup's minister and will give suggestions to king, queens have to keep their roses protected, no one will have any say in that, we will count how many roses they have in end.

  • Sensational Secrets:here will be a task ‘sensational secrets’ for Deepak and Shivashish, winner will become captain of house. In this task, they will be shown secrets of inmates and they have to guess whose secret is that, after one secret is out, both contenders can spy and talk to inmates to know whose secret is that, then gong will play, the contender who presses buzzer first will get a chance to guess the name, if he is right then he will get a point otherwise other contender will get a chance to guess.   • Luxury Budget Task:Megha and KV will be shopkeepers in this Poultry Farm task. Everyone will compete against each other, including Megha and KV. Every time a hen births an egg, one contestant can fight to get the egg, give it to the shopkeeper and demand the doll of one of the other contestants whom they want to get evicted, inmates who get dolls of others can crush it in a crusher. The shopkeeper who has more eggs will fight the captaincy task. Contestants whose dolls are saved till the end will compete for captaincy too. If either Srishty or Saba do well, they can choose who should compete in the captaincy task since they cannot be captains themselves. They have to keep their eggs save too.
  • Captaincy Task:here will be a task between Somi, Megha and Deepak. There is a train and stall near a station in garden, there are some items in stall, all inmates will be stall seller. Contenders will be riding train, when two contenders get down from train then the one standing in train will win and become captain.. when signal turns red and buzzer plays then train will stop and inmates will be able to go in train with some bad items from stall, they can choose any contender to eat those things, when signal turns green then inmate will have to get down from train and train will start again. Sree says I am supporting Megha. Shivashish is the referee.

  • Captaincy Task:When the task begins, the contestants have to wear Jasleen or Sreesanth badge each to show support for them. A Diwali Mela will be held for them as a part of this task, where things can be bought by the 1,50,000 points given to each of the contenders, inmates can ask contenders to buy something for them, contenders can buy things for inmates to keep their support. The first round will be open only to Jasleen, second round to Sreesanth and the third round will be open to both of them. Deepak will be the coordinator of this task. Sristy will make sure that ticket is used when buzzer plays.
  • Captaincy Task.The garden area is divided into the red, blue, green and yellow zones. The aim is to empty the competitor's bowls while contenders will have to keep moving to inner circles. Contenders have to keep trying to make others leave the task.

  • Hitmen:Romil and Sreesanth will be hitmen, who will take money from housemates to kill a person. A treasure safe will have coins with various price amounts which will total to Rs 45 lakhs and using each coin will subtract that amount from the total prize money. The housemates will take a coin and give it to the hitman when light of living room changes. Hitmans will sit in their room when light changes to take the task from inmates. The housmate who is alive in the end and the hitman with most money will be in the captaincy race. Romil and Sree will be referees too. Murdered inmates can give task to kill others too by givin coins. Sristy can't become captain but if she wins then she can make someone else contender for captaincy. Amount taken from safe will cut from winning prize.
  • TRP:Shivashish and Romil will participate in the task TRP. Both contenders will run their own channel and entertain housemates. Studios have been made for both and the task will be done in three rounds. The first round will be a chat show, the second round will be dance and round 3 will be an infotainment slot, where they will tell others why they deserve to be in the house. Housemates can only watch one channel at a time in the living room. Whoever is decided to be a winner of each round will be decided by the housemates and Karanvir will be the sanchalak of the task and will decide which contender's channel was seen more in task and who wins most rounds will win captaincy

  • Luxury Budget Task:The task will have an impact on captaincy also. There will be two teams. Team Red consisted of Karanvir, Romil, Somi, Deepak and Surbhi and Team Blue has Rohit, Dipika, Sreesanth, Megha and Jasleen. Sristy can't be captain so she will be referee. When alarm plays, snake's eyes will turn either blue or red, whichever color it is, snake will eat one member of that color team and eaten member will go in belly of snake. Inmates can control which color snake can take as there is a lever which has blue and red sides and whichever side it is, eyes will show that color. The team whose most members are outside the snake when the task ends wins. In start, both teams will mutually send a person to turn lever.
  • Breaking News:Surbhi and Deepak will turn into reporters and they have to find news in the house. News caster will tell news but both contenders will have to find breaking news from inmates, they have to give those news to anchor, contenders will be her reporter, at the end of task, whoever have more points will win the task

In task, there is a baggage room where there are school bags of all inmates, when horn plays, you will take one bag and sit in school bus, you all will be responsible for each other captaincy, when bus is on brake, the person who gets down will eliminate person whose bag they have with them, then he or she will put money envelope from bag to box there, that amount will be added prize money, whoever wins task, that person's amount will not be saved, whoever is out first will become referee of task.
  • Luxury Budget Task:Task will be between Sree and Romil, all laugh. They will be given used cars, they are dirty and needs cleaning, Sree and Romil have to make others agree to wash car for them and clean it. Deepak will be referee of task. On third buzzer, task will end and Deepak will tell whose car is more clean and then they have to name a person who performed so well, that person will win used car.
  • Captaincy Task:Rohit and Surbhi will be stage manager. There are two stages in garden. Deepak will sing for Surbhi, Jasleen will sing on Rohit's behalf.. buzzers will play, one inmate will sit on chair in front of stage at time of buzzer, then singers will perform, the contender which gets to perform three times will win task.. contenders have to make sure that inmates sit on their chair and stage and their performer is able to perform. Karanvir will be referee.

  • Ticket To Finale Task (Part 1):there is a fire engine in garden and all inmates will be fire-tenders. There is a building there. At a time, two fire-fighters have to remain in fire engine. When buzzer plays, fire will start in two windows of building and two inmates’ faces will be shown, two fighters in truck will mutually decide who they want to save and the one burned move towards leaving ticket to finale race, then they will put cross on burned inmate's window, as soon as an inmate's photo is full of crosses, that person will be out of ticket to finale race. This task will continue till four inmates are out of race. Three will become contender to get ticket, when its time to change fire-fighters, the fighters leaving truck will decide who should take their duty.
  • Ticket To Finale Task (Part 2):Three contenders will have a task to win ticket to finale, all other inmates will get nominated. When buzzer plays, one contender will go and sit on stool with headphones on, they will start to keep a tab on time, when they think that 33 minutes have passed, they will play a gong. Other inmates can talk to contenders through headphones to distract them from time.

  • Prize Money Task:There are 2 teams, Team A(All BB12 Contestants) and Team B (Gautam Gulati, Priyank Sharma and Kamya Punjabi)There are two tanks in garden, both teams have to fill their tank, team which have more water in end will win.
