Sembrando

Sembrando is the debut extended play by Mexican singer Peso Pluma. It was released on 20 April 2022 on digital platforms, through Prajin Parlay and Worms Music. [1] "Spiral" was released as the lead single, in November 2021, and in April 2023 "Sembrando" as the second official single. The EP reached top 50 on the Top Latin Albums chart; as well as number 13 on Regional Mexican Albums in the United States, this being the artist's first album to debut on any music chart.[2][3]

Background and release

Peso Pluma told Bandamax TV: "Sembrando is an EP that I want to release as a gift to the fans who follow me. The songs (from the EP) were already known, I had never released them. I wanted to give them a little gift." Peso Pluma also told Bandamax that the songs "Sembrando" and "El Capi" are corridos tumbados composed by him at the request of some friends. The track "El Viejón de la Loma" was composed by his friend Héctor Rubio and Peso Pluma recorded it for the EP.[4]

The release date was chosen because of the famous moniker "4:20", which is an informal phrase used as a celebration of the cultivation and consumption of marijuana (April 20), in the same way the title of the EP alludes to this.[5][6]
