Shavur Rural District

Shavur Rural District (Persian: دهستان شاوور) is in Shavur District of Karkheh County, Khuzestan province, Iran. Its capital is the village of Seyyed Rahimeh.[3]

At the National Census of 2006, its population (as a part of Shavur District of Shush County) was 17,578 in 2,695 households.[4] There were 10,031 inhabitants in 2,280 households at the following census of 2011.[5] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 10,154 in 2,716 households. The largest of its 21 villages was Khovis, with 3,520 people.[2]

In September 2019, the district was separated from the county, divided into two districts of two rural districts each and two cities (Alvan as the capital and Shavur), and elevated to the status of Karkheh County.[3]
