Shush, Iran

Shush (Persian: شوش; also Romanized as Shūsh, Shoosh, and by name of the ancient nearby city: Sūsa)[3] is a city in the Central District of Shush County, Khuzestan province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the county and of the district. Shush is beside ancient Susa.

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 53,897 in 10,889 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 59,161 people in 14,563 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 77,148 people in 21,649 households.[6]
