Tappeh Kanan

Tappeh Kanan (Persian: تپه كنعان, also Romanized as Tappeh Kan‘ān)[3] is a village in Sarqaleh Rural District of Dasht-e Zahab District, Sarpol-e Zahab County, Kermanshah province, Iran.

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 98 in 15 households, when it was in Ezgeleh District of Salas-e Babajani County.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 105 people in 23 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 106 people in 25 households, by which time the rural district had been transferred to the Central District of Sarpol-e Zahab County. It was the largest village in its rural district.[2]

After the 2016 census, Dasht-e Zahab, Jeygaran, Posht Tang, and Sarqaleh Rural Districts were separated from the Central District to form the new Dasht-e Zahab District. In addition, the villages of Kuik-e Azizi Amin, Kuik-e Hasan, Kuik-e Mahmud, and Kuik-e Majid merged to form the village of Kuik, which became the capital of the new district.[6]
