History

The predecessor of Xidian University is the Central Military Commission Radio School, which was born in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province in 1931. It has gone through historical periods such as the Central Military Commission Radio Communication School, the North China Military Region Telecommunication Engineering College, the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Commission Engineering School, and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Communications Engineering College. It moved to Xi'an in 1958.[1]

In 1966, the college was converted into a local organization and renamed Northwest Telecommunications Engineering College. In 1988, it was renamed Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The school had been affiliated with the Central Military Commission, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Sixth Machinery Department, the Fourth Machinery Department, the Ministry of Electronics Industry, the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics, and the Ministry of Information Industry. In 2000, it was transferred to the Ministry of Education.[1]
