Type locality: California, San Diego County, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (ABSP), 0.4km N Hayden Spring, 32.71045, -116.11705, 350m, coll. M. Hedin 14–15.x.2000.
Etymology: The specific epithet is a patronym in honor of the Hedin family, Marshal, Robin, Lars, and Molly.
