Name

Botia kubotai Kottelat, 2004

  • Holotype: MHNG 2644.24.
  • Paratypes: CMK 17774 (10), 17829 (3), 17943 (215); MHNG 2644.25 (10); NRM 49891 (10); ZRC 47858 (3), 49125 (10).

Type locality: About 20 kilometers northwest of Payathouzu (at border with Thailand), about 15°25'N, 98°15'E , between Kyondaw and Phadae, "Chon Son" stream, Kayin [Karen] State, Myanmar.

Etymology: Its specific epithet honors Katsuma Kubota of an aquarium export company in Thailand who first purchased the catch and sent them out for identification.
