Name

Careproctus spectrum Bean, 1890

  • Lectotype: SU 48.
  • Paralectotype: USNM 45363 (2).

Type locality: Alaska, north of the Shumagin Islands, between Unga and Nagai islands; 55.167°N, 160.3°W, depth 201 m.

Etymology: The specific epithet is derived from the Latin spectrum, meaning “specter” or “ghostly apparition”.
