- Holotype: Ovigerous female 40 mm
- Type locality: 72°35.67 ́5S, 18°8.17 ́W, depth 604–656 m, collected during the Polarstern cruise ANT III 1985 by Agassiz-trawl, 27.I.1985, station 273.
- Etymology: named robustoides because of its morphological similarity to Epimeria robusta.
